Accountability Sponsors/Partners
- The key to being successful in your recovery is to have "accountability partners" and "sponsors."
- Accountability partners are someone you connect with, that you can be accountable to, who may have the same struggles or addiction that you do, or something similar.
- Accountability partners are also attending the CR program along with you.
- Accountability partners are gender specific: Men with men; Women with women.
- Accountability partners consist of three people, not just two.
- Accountability partners contact you everyday or almost everyday throughout the week to see how you are doing with your recovery and also for you to see how they are doing.
- Sponsors are similar to accountability partners; the difference is that Sponsors have completed a twelve step program.
- Sponsors are more like mentors and coach you through the program.
- Sponsors don't have to be at CR every week, however, it is a great encouragement when sponsors attend CR.
- There are differences between sponsors and accountability partners and can be thought of this way...
- A "Sponsor" is like your own personal fitness trainer at the gym; an "Accountability Partner" is like the person you go to the gym with to work out. It is important to understand the significance and role of the "Sponsor" and the "Accountability partner" to achieve your full potential of recovery and healing.
