U

A very sunny greetings from Chile.
I wanted to get some information to you so you can pray with correct
knowledge for us this week.
Please don't take this as cold letter just information as we trust you
so very much by the way you pray for us!

Prayer request:
Praise and prayer. Last Sunday morning I damaged quite heavily the
front of the Suzuki that I bought. Remember is needed a car that I
could fit into with my vertebrae being fused I can't bend to far.
Well as I was going to pick up Yentzen I was blinded by the sun and I
was putting the sun visor down and in that fraction of time I went
through a red light hitting a truck on its back quarter panel. God
knows all about this,no one was hurt but my little Suzuki jeep must
be repaired or replaced. This week will get quotes etc for repair ask
God which direction to go or pray for. Pray for wisdom and
sensitivity to the Lord.

Praise and prayer. Linda arrived safe and sound Friday morning with
her Mom. Gram (as I call he) we now be staying with us so we can care
for her as she has done for so many others. This is a great
conviction that Linda and I have talked a prayed about for years. So
now our prayers are answered and we have the joy and privilege to be
care takers for Linda mother. Pray for wisdom that we do not over
care for her that she doesn't get up and move but that we make life
secure and family oriented and that she is not all day every day by
her self.

Prayer. Our fourth work team comes down this Friday. We are looking
forward to their being able to put up doors, finish some bathrooms
tiling and helping us to get closer to be the point that we can apply
for temporary residency. Incredible as it may seem amidst all of the
dust, stacked boxes of tiles cement bags, and many many construction
items, there will be a wedding performed in our building this coming
Saturday. What a joy to see folks so dedicated to a local church that
one of our church ladies wishes to get married in her own church.
That is a wonderful testimony.

Pray for the Ortiz, Ibanez family as the mother of the house lost her
battle to cancer and now is with the Lord she loved so dearly. Pray
for Christian-reacting with anger towards the Lord, Jason- (26) very
strong and walking with the Lord and seeing Gods hand in his moms
life. Felipe- 19 first years of college and walking strong with the
Lord, and then Nicolas 14 and is just a delightful strong young mans
that is learning to love the Lord and wants to sing in our special
little church choir group!! Pray for them as life and reality start
sinking into every part of daily life.

Pray for our Christian academy. We need teachers as never before for
this next term July 2011 until July 2012. This week is spiritual
emphasis week. Pray that we see God work in the hearts of some of our
young men and young ladies. Either salvation or dedication. So far
this semester we have seen 2 kids saved. One young man said he had
never ever heard the plan of salvation much less that God would send
his son to die for him!! Now that all came out of high school English
literature class call read and write!! The joy of serving the Lord
even while reading Uncle Tom's cabin. And if you should know any one
that just might want to be a missionary teacher in an MK school have
the contact me by e-mail

  or call our home 610-621-2745.

Pray for us as we received notice of another church dropping all of
their missionaries due to lack of giving. There is NOT a lack of
money in the USA there is a lack of hearts that are soft to Gods
leading in their lives and in leaving of comfort zones and lack
personal daily walks with God himself. That has been testimony after
testimony from the folks that have come down on work work groups as
we have had our sharing devotional times after the evening meal! So
pray for the Cross family we will now be just shy of $190 under
supported. And that is OK because God knows every detail and it is
exactly what He wants for us and since it is in His hands, car
replacement and or car repairs, supporting churches struggling, a
building that when it is finished that will be an immeasurable tool in
the hands of God!! we are blessed and protected!
Remember that quite antiquated song, God said it, I believe it and
thats good enough for me!! Well despite all that is happening in our
personal world and the world we live in, I stand strong on the
doctrine sung about in that song

Pray for us this week starting on Friday as it be will action packed,
how great can that be for us to be action packed for the Lord

Our Love to all who read this!!

December 2, 2010

Good afternoon from Santiago Chile.
This note comes as a precursor to our Christmas letter.
As you know Linda and I returned to Chile on August.27th.  Since that date God has allowed some unique things happen in my life. (Duane).  Some may have heard some details.
I will fill you in as we need prayer and possibly some help.
Upon returning I continued to have some extreme pain in my legs and back.  I resisted but finally went to my surgeon.  For some reason God allowed a large hernia to happen and it needed to be repaired surgically. My Dr. had changed hospitals and so I went to a hospital that I was not really comfortable with but had no option.  The surgery was 5 hours long, and I bled so heavily that they almost stopped the surgery. I was in the hospital for 6 days came home and followed Dr.s orders to the word.  The pain did not stop and my surgeon 5 weeks latter took me to a pain specialist.  They put me on a heavy dosage of methadone of which I could only handle for 10 days.  Due to a problem with catching my breath and breathing correctly I went to the emergency room last Sunday and was admitted with what appeared to be blood clots on my lungs.  This was re diagnosed Monday as not true but what was seen was that there are two arteries that are 50% blocked. I am under a wonderful competent heart Dr.
While I was there in the hospital I asked since I was there if they  would check why I had  the constant pain in my back.  Once again God has led us to another wonderful Dr.and with much professional courtesy has found that a screw was placed in correctly in the last surgery and my surgeon did not take time to investigate it.  He has assured me that it has been the issue that has caused the extreme pain and now has me under his care. I had a  nerve  block done around the screw that is touching the nerves in my spinal column. The Dr. is hopeful that it will desinflam  the area and calm it down to form tissue and bone around it to stop the touching of the nerves.  He assure me that I have been in major pain and that it wasn't because of stress, anxiety or problems.  The problem was the screw was wrongly placed in September during the surgery.
I have now had the nerve block for 24 hours and enjoying a pain free right side.  The new surgeon said that this could only be a temporary healing and that if in 1 or 2 weeks the block does not fix the problem he will have to do the more invasive measure and correct the wrongly placed screw.
These have been long agonizing days and some days have been a challenge to see what God has been doing. Ps. 86 has been great and when my body is a bit relaxed and pain free my prayer times have been very special.
Please pray that this block will work.  We have work teams coming down to help on our building and I really need to be a part of these teams. We are almost in!!
Praise the Lord for the new medical team God has led us to.  We are in and excellent hospital that is a John Hopkins extension.
Praise the Lord for a wonderful wife that has filled where I have not been able to.  Pray that we could have at least week near the beach for a bit of down and personal time.
Praise the Lord for a wonderful missionary team that have been very understanding.
Praise the Lord that we at New Life continue to grow and have work teams coming in January, Feb. and March to help us get into our building.  It won't be finished by any means but we should be able to occupy it.
One other prayer request.  The many medical cost (now over $30,000 US) will be eventually covered but for the moment our support account is $6,000 in the red. We need some help to keep our monthly pay check to be able to come until hopefully some of the money is recovered.  If there would be any way of some help that would be a blessing.  We will be applying our Christmas gifts that come in towards this deficit.
I apologize for having to ask and I know God will cover and we will not be unprotected.  The ABWE medical dept. asked me to let you know of the need to see if there could be any help towards this deficit.
We choose not to come home as the care that we have now is excellent and I will  never choose to use another hospital and we are so thankful that these new Dr.s acted quickly and with confidence finding the problems, diagnosing them correctly and getting me back on my feet.
Pray the block works and that no other surgery is needed. If by chance it is needed God knows and I am surrendered to His will.  But as of today I can walk, no cane and no drug therapy!!!
Thank you for reading this for praying, and I am confident that it was many times during these last 7 weeks at precise moments many of you have been praying.
Our love,gratitude and blessings.
Duane and Linda
