Pastor Yentzen & Amalia (Welsh) Sanhueza

Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, n His arm He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom...

Isaiah 40:11

Sanhueza-11-1We thank God for the wonders that He has allowed us to live in these last three months. How His powerful, holding hand has upheld, encouraged, and cared for us. Brethren, it is always a reason for thanksgiving to see how God keeps us in the ministry, every day there is something new to learn and be able to give, every day there is a life that needs to be led to the feet of Christ. We want to be servants who are faithful to His Word and faithful to his leading. Our prayer is constant, that God would teach us day by day to be servants who are humble and in communion with his Word, for our hearts, our lives, and our children. We are aware that we are upheld every moment by those prayers and the prayers of each one of you. The weariness is starting to be felt as the end of the year approaches. Yentzen will soon finish his first year in the Masters program. He is currently taking Expository Preaching at the Facultad Teologica Biblica Bautista seminary. The girls are finishing their school year. The different ministries are approaching the end of a very busy and fast-paced year, at times frustrating and sad but for the most part and as a whole, it has been good because God has wanted it that way.

It has been three months since we had to as a family leave our dear house on Amapolas, but God was faithful and answered each one of the prayer requests that I shared with you awhile back. We have a house that was rented to us by the actual owners. They did not ask us for any kind of document, nor did they ask us for a deposit or a co-signer. It is a half an hour from the hospital and the girls' school... God was good brethren, we are hoping to be able to continue serving Him from this new house and with the house. We already had the inauguration with a group from the church, the singles SPA, inaugurating the "house club". Soon the prayer cell groups will come, the married couples, the golden group, flock, and youth group. And if you are not included in any of those groups, it doesn't matter. As a good Chilean there is never lacking an excuse to get together and celebrate. You are all invited.

Regarding our health God provided the necessary funds to be able to see the doctor for some pending issues for me, Amalia, and for Yentzen. Yentzen needed a check-up on the issue of his bones and the operation which was done over eight years ago, and thanks to God there is nothing new. Unfortunately, we do not know when Yentzen's sickness will recur. Right now we need to be alert because the bone of the thumb on his right hand is slowly growing so the doctor told him we need to be constantly observing it. We need to make sure it does not get numb, lose sensitivity, or change color. If that happens there is no medication or solution, it would require surgery to replace the bad bone with a good one. The bad thing is that if we continue that way, over the years he will not have any good bone left to replace with. But this situation causes us to depend every day more on our good God, to trust Him, but above all else we want to be faithful testimonies to His power perfected in our weakness. He needs to have a bone scan done and be checked every so often, but once again GOD PUT BALM on our hearts by ruling out bone cancer, an underlying and constant fear with his illness.

My thyroid and the nodule that was found last year has shrunk considerably, AMEN. Thank you to all who were praying. I have to have the ultrasounds and other exams re-done. My dear Santiago is doing very well. He will require another surgery, but this time it will be a purely aesthetic one that will spare him some discomfort, nothing complicated. His test results have been very good, he is growing like a normal child and at the moment his renal function is stable. GLORY TO GOD! Thank you once again for your prayers and care for us.

Sanhueza-11-2In regard to our beautiful and magical princesses, their health is impenetrable and I give glory to God for that. They are beautiful and Yentzen and I have realized how quickly they have grown. Emilia has already turned nine years old and my beloved Mariana will turn eight in January. They are three marvelous gifts that God has given us. We are constantly challenged by them and by the environment they are developing in which for the most part is a worldly environment and where neither God nor His word has any validity or importance. It is a daily fight and a constant teaching and our priority is to teach them that the most important thing in their lives is to love God with all of their heart, soul, and mind. It is a sometimes difficult task, but we pray that we can be wise parents and guide our children in His love.

The ministry keeps working alertly and excited about how God can use different situations to transform lives. The Bible Academy of the church is in the final stretch so that the second group of students can graduate this 2011. There are approximately six people who will be ready with their courses. Pray that these brothers and sisters would be faithful workers, willing to work in the Lord's ministry.

The need to meet in our building is so great. It is a priority as we can sense the discouragement in our brethren at being in a permanent exodus. But is is closer all the time. Pray as we are almost there, don't be discouraged, let's work together to make that place a point of victory for the Gospel in downtown Santiago. There is very little left before the final reception. We need to present some documents and do some finishing work that is not minor. May God give wisdom to our pastors so they will be guided and may He open the necessary doors. The third week of November we will present the papers before the Municipality of Santiago. Pray fervently that we will find grace before the authorities who will inspect us.

Sanhueza-11-4 Sanhueza-11-5

This past October 31 we did an evangelistic activity called "the festival of lights" for the first time. We presented the Good News to children and their parents. More than one hundred children enjoyed the games, contests, and candy in a healthy and "light-filled" environment. The parents heard about God and we left a mark for future activities.

We request your prayers for November 20. We will have an evangelistic service and we are inviting the community. We have called the service "Where was God when..." The emphasis is for them to know the Good News and believe that God was always available even when the difficulties were hitting their lives. We will have testimonies, special music, and a Gospel presentation. We have gone through hard times as a family and also on a ministry level, but the grace of God is what moves us forward, always having Jesus as our cornerstone we will feel His grace in our lives.

Hoping that each of you is well and that every word that comes out of our hearts can encourage you to continue living a victorious life in Christ, I bid you farewell until our next report. Please, if you have any prayer requests let us know. We will gladly pray for you.

With great gratitude and a cordial farewell,
The Sanhueza Welsh Family.

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end"  Ecclesiastes 3:11

Image1It has been eight years since the time Yentzen accept God's call to pursue full-time service. It took years of education, years in which our good God shaped our character, and showed us His grace, mercy and care. Eight years of complete dependence on Him, eight years of preparation. We are so grateful to God that He allows us to serve in His work, and we are here only by His grace.

On Saturday, October 3, an Ordination Council of pastors examined Yentzen doctrinally, by which he was approved and recommended to the pastorate of the church. On October 10th, Yentzen was commissioned as pastor: the first national pastor of New Life Baptist Church, no doubt a response to more than ten years of prayer, ten years since the founding of the IBVN, where great men of God, missionaries and pastors, have been guiding the church, some briefly and others who are with us until today. Thank God the church now has its national pastor. To God be the Glory.

Image2We extend to each of you, our friends and partners in the gospel, our sincere thanks as a family. You have been a fundamental part of this teaching, of this process, of this wonderful call from God. Now, you can rejoice with us that God has been working as He promised.

These weeks of preparation, the examination and the Commissioning Service were filled with many and varied emotions. We saw the concern, support, dedication and care of the congregation so that these events were performed with excellence that will be a precedent for future national pastors that the Lord will raise up at New Life Baptist Church. Now, we must continue doing what we have been doing - working hard for Christ's sake in evangelism and discipleship which will result in souls delivered to the feet of the Lord to do His good pleasure.

ANXIOUS FOR THE NEW BUILDING

Image3We're almost at year's end and summer will soon be here. There is a tiredness seen in the various ministries of the church, not just the fatigue of seeing another church year with its plans completed but sometimes discouragement in seeing the delay in the completion of the construction and not being able to use of the building for our many faceted ministry. So far we've managed very well, but exhaustion is eventually catching up with us. For example: College and Career gathered in our home, the Bible club for teenagers gathered at the home of Celeste Olguin, women's studies are held in the home of Anita Suarez. The "Evangelistic Tea", which the women's ministry hosted, was conducted at the Bible College. Prayer meetings, Bible Institute classes, outreach to university students, Bible studies for men and the Biblical Counseling course are all held in a rented school near the construction site of the new church. On Sundays for the worship service, we rented another place about two blocks from the construction.

Fellow workers, I want to encourage you like our beloved Pastor Duane has with us: "Pray until we have the keys in hand to enter our building." Continue to pray and help as we gather the necessary resources and complete the construction so we can begin our new church calendar year in March with all our different ministry activities in one building – OUR OWN BUILDING!

  • What will it take to enter?
  • Finish the bathroom with the toilet facilities
  • Hang doors
  • Pave the basement
  • Build the dividing walls in the offices and classrooms
  • Make ramps for wheelchair access

As God provides:

  • Enclose the third floor and put on a roof
  • Floor tile and carpet
  • Stucco walls and paint
  • Railings on the stairways
  • Hang lights

Thank God we have help coming from the U.S.! There are three churches presently sending work teams. They will arrive in January and February, which is our summer. These groups will help us in several jobs that are needed so that we can obtain the municipality permits. Pray for them - their travel, safety, and progress at the construction site.

FAMILY NEWS

Image4Not only in ministries but also there is a noticeable tiredness in us as a family. The girls are very tired and every day asks me how long before they finish school. We are looking forward to summer with its change of pace and are anxious to help with the work teams as they arrive. We are eager also to be a blessing to them.

Thank God our family's health has been stable, with some complications but nothing major. Yentzen has had some discomfort with symptoms of a kidney stone again. I shall begin treatment in respect to my thyroid gland because the doctor has detected a nodule. Also, I have to do other tests for some discomfort in my arm.

Our beloved Santiago, is currently still taking the medicine to expand his bladder and thus prevent further surgery. This month we have an appointment to verify the results of this new treatment. Please keep praying for our child. God has been good to touch the hearts of some fellow believers and friends to buy the needed medicine for Santiago. Right now we are doing the paperwork to put Santiago in Kindergarten next year (2011), he is very eager to go. When we think about it, we are filled with gratitude to God, for we never thought that Santiago would be healthy enough for a normal life like our girls experience. Glory be to God!

Our girls are very healthy. Emilia turned eight on October 27, which was also my birthday. God gave us the opportunity to celebrate as a family and then later in a surprise party with some friends. Mariana has learned to read, and is praying that her grandmother would give her first Bible to her for her birthday. On the other hand, the girls are raising money for summer camp. Emilia went last year, but this is Mariana's first time. They are excited and want the time to come quickly.

MINISTRIES

Our Bible Institute classes that meet on Monday and Wednesday night are coming to a close for the year. We have taught various subjects and the students are beginning their test week. It is a joy and privilege to teach the Word of God and even more when Yentzen has his mother as one of the students. I ask for your prayers for her (and for all the students at the Institute) for their encouragement to continue and further motivation to continue studying what God says in His Word.

Image5This Tuesday classes will finish, for Yentzen's Biblical Counseling course. This is the first time he has taught this course which has a group of 17 people that are now at the "practice" stage. They are counseling people with the tools they have learned in class. It's nice to think that now we have other biblical counselors to cover more people in need. This is one of the ministries that God has called Yentzen to do in our new building as it is strategically situated in the center of Santiago. Six million people live in Santiago and in the area around our church there is a tremendous need for Biblical counseling. Help us pray that those who are studying will form a trained group of believers that with Bible in hand will counsel to bring glory to God. May Christ would be exalted and that the Holy Spirit use us as worthy instruments to transform lives.

Our Church is conducting two great evangelism campaigns. One was on November 7, called the "Story of Hope" in which we shared Christ through a video. The next three weeks we are having home meeting with the purpose to evangelize. Brothers of the Church are opening their homes and inviting in neighbors and relatives to study the story of Christ. Pray that God will use these studies for the proclamation of the gospel to the lost.

Our second evangelistic campaign will be on 18 December in the Quinta Normal Park that is used by many people. There will be a mime play called the "King of Hearts." More than 20 people are working on this campaign. We will have two presentations. Pray for people attending the park that they will hear and understand the plan of salvation. Pray that God will help us in every detail of these campaigns.

There will also be a baptismal service on December 5. Eight people will pass through the waters to obey the Christ's command. Pray that they are a testimony to their relatives and friends who are invited and for their lives to continue in faithfulness to God.

For six weeks beginning in November, Yentzen will be preaching a Sunday morning series based on the letter to Timothy - a series called "The Marks of a Healthy Church." Pray that God will use His Word in the life of the congregation. Pray for study time in preparing sermons.

We continue to work in southern Chile, in a small village called Peñuelas. The believers there are very motivated to move ahead with the formation of a church. Yentzen travels once a month to preach there. Every Sunday a man with a group from New Life travels down there, which by car takes three hours. This gives our folks possibility to implement their spiritual gifts and talents, as well as, learn about missions. Pray for the brothers in Peñuelas, especially for David Vera and his wife Paola, who is pregnant and ready to have her baby in November. Pray with us for their finances, morale and the work that David does for this group of believers in Peñuelas in motivating them to gather on Sundays. We hope to soon start with Bible studies during the week and continue with weekly discipleship and visitation, which is always involved in the beginning of a new work.

THANKS FOR:

  • the work of our church members in all that was involved in Yentzen's ordination
  • for the love that is shown us by the fellow believers at New Life
  • for God's faithfulness in the current health statist of our beloved Santiago

PRAY FOR:

  • the occupancy of our building by the end of our summer (February)
  • the work teams that are coming in January and February.
  • a good closing of the school year for the girls.
  • Santiago's next doctor's visit when we should find out the results of the new medicine
  • the final classes for the year in the Bible Institute and Biblical Counseling course
  • the evangelistic campaigns
  • those who are being counseled by Yentzen, may God give wisdom to help
  • Amalia's health and the provision for the exams and checkups
  • the work in Peñuelas
  • support and provision
We are so thankful for your lives and your love that is shown to us through your prayers and support.
